The History of Zen Bu Kan Kempo in Hungary PDF Print
1966.
Dr. Imre Harnos came back to Hungary from Australia after 10 years and started to teach Kempo. The trainings were held in a dirty basement in secret.

April 2, 1967.

Dr. Imre Harnos was expelled from
Hungary, since the teaching of Kempo was evaluated against the Socialist System by the Socialist Government.

1969

Dr. Harnos again in Hungary and reorganize the remaining of the Kempo group, then the Governmental institutions forced him to leave Hungary again. The training are held int he very early mornings and the evenings outdoor in the Városliget park.
1975 - 1976

Dr. Harnos spent quite a long time in
Hungary and started the indoor trainings. The first dojo was located at Sütő street the training room of Mélyépterv S. K.


1981

Dr. Harnos spent  8 months in
Hungary and leaving Hungary he promoted five people to Instructor (Trainer) Dan level: Dr. Mihály Szacsky, János Koncz, Dr. Attila Borbély, János Bacsa, János Tamás Szegedi. Every of Them had pre-life in Martial Arts, when they started learning of Kempo. From this time (with leading of Szegedi János Tamásl) the ( Zen Bu Kan ) Kempo are founded in Hungary. /Note. The Zen Bu Kan name is come into force as of 1993 officially, in Hungary that was in 1995./

1982

János Koncz returned to
Hungary his prior style and become the representative of All Style Karate, János Tamás Szegedi went back to England and Australia, and settled there. For a short time of period Dr. Attila Borbély leading the Kempo organization – who was the insturctor of Juhasz Ferenc and Rudolf Várszegi – than he was back to his original style, to the Judo.
So the Kempo was left without Leader, and two people, Rudolf Várszegi and Ferenc Juhasz thanks to theirtheir sacrificial work, Kempo developed a lot.
In this summer the first summer Camp was organized in Dombóvár with the leading of Rudolf Várszegi.

1984
Dr. Imre Harnos return back to Hungary also and accidentally found another group of people who doing Kempo.


1985
The first Black Belt grade exam was held in Hungary Rudolf Várszegi and Ferenc Juhász pass their sho dan exam. The first two sho Dan master received the right organizing belt exams. From this time the popularity and the development are much faster in the history of Kempo.
In 1982 the Hungarian Kempo Organization was founded within the All Style committee. In 1985 the Kempo was registered officially with the leadership of Rudolf Várszegi. At the time of registration there were 4-5 clubs working in
Hungary.

1987
Imre Szurkos passed his Sho Dan level exam. Szurkos later actively starts Jiu-Jitsu and leave the Kempo line.


March 1988

Ferenc Juhász, with help of Dr. Harnos, travel to Aus tralia, where he passed his Ni Dan level at the Hanshi, than a week later in
Canberra he passed his sho dan level exam in Jiu-Jitsu at the Australian Jiu-Jitsu Organization. During in Australia He helped to Dr. Harnos in two Seminar

1989
László Lévai pass his sho Dan belt exam in Hungary, than a week later He pass his Jiu-Jitsu Sho Dan belt exam in the supervision of Dr. Harnos.


1990

In the Sho Dan exam organized in Hungary 7 Kempo trainee pass their exam (Gyula Kolozsvári, Ferenc Gallai, Zoltán Partics, Attila Babcsák, Zoltán Durkó, Gyula Buzás, Gábor Lovász) for László Lévai passed his Ni Dan exam and Ferenc Juhász passed his San Dan exam. Ferenc Juhász was elected to be the Leader of Zen Bu Kan Kempo Organization in Hungary.

1991

Rudolf Várszegi passed his Ni Dan level in front of  Dr. Harnos.

1992

János Weiszengruber  and Antal Metzger passed their Sho Dan exam, Zoltán Durkó, Gyula Buzás, Gábor Lovász passed their Ni Dan exam and László Lévai passed his San Dan exam in front of Dr. Harnos Hanshi. The exam was held in
Hungary. (Tamás Szabó was died just one week before his Sho Dan exam.)



December 1, 1993

Dr. Imre Harnos received the Samurai level of Kyoshi from the Kojosho Kempo Karate Shinkokai Organization. With this action the Zen Bu Kan Kempo became an Intentionally Qualified Style
1994

14 new Sho Dan Master passed their exam in the Summer training camp of Csopak, 10 out of 14 were adults (Ferenc Palotás, Zoltán Kittrich, Mária Babály, Péter Sas, Szilvia Koszta, Zoltán Horváth, Zoltán Kutrik, György Kornéli, József Király, Antal Takács) and 4 out of 14 were child (Éva Kiss, Anita Tartler, Dániel Régi, Balázs Vértes). Antal Metzger and János Weiszengrúber passed their Ni Dan exam, Zoltán Durkó passed his San Dan exam. Ferenc Juhász received  the Yon Dan level from Dr. Imre Harnos. With the rever of Dr. Harnos Ferenc Juhász and László Lévai received the Samurai level of Renshi from the Kojosho Organization. Thanks to  Rudolf Várszegi a basic and an advance level of Kempo Trainer Course was found at the University of Physical Training Science of Budapest.

1995 március 27.

László Lévai register the independent Hungarian Zen Bu Kan Kempo Organization, all the Master, who wanted to follow the way of Dr. Harnos are joined to this Organization. The elected president of the Organization was László Lévai, vice presidents were  Zoltán Durkó and Gyula Buzás. In this year the Hungarian Kempo team participated a the International Martial Art World Cup which was organized by the World Congress in Australia.



1996

Thanks to the hard work of László Lévai, Zoltán Durkó, Gula Buzás, Gyula Kolozsvári, Antal Metzger, Zoltán Kittrich, Fernc the Zen Bu Kan Kempo became of well developed style in this year and 11 was passed their Sho Dan level exam int he summer camp of Kemece in front of Dr. Imre Harnos (Valér Papp, Mihály Garamvölgyi, Viktor Voicsek, Balázs Kabina, Balázs Bakos, Judit Garai, Roland Lajos, András Kovács, Attila Takács, Gábor Vadóc, Norbert Márhoffer).
From this year the Hungarian Championship are organized frequently in every ages. And this is the first year of the Hanshi Cup in Tatabálnya. The Head of the Judges became Ferenc Palotás. Thanks to his work the level of judging became more organized. The Organization created the Exam committee, and elect Valér Papp to the leader of this committee. Thanks to his work the Exam Requirements became more organized and found a settled Exam books. From this year a new timing coming to force (on Spring, on Summer at the training camp, on Autumn). In this year a Hungarian team (with 10 members) were participated to the World Congress World Cup in the
USA.


1997


As a member of a newly founded Organization (IGOR – International Grandmasters of Roundtable) the Hungarian ZBK Kempo Organization make an International World Cup in Tatabánya, were 12 countries are participate, with a main judge of Balázs Bakos. The first  written Judge book were created during his time. The Organization had more than 1000 members at that time. On Nov 15th  Dr Harnos received the Samurai level of Kioshi from the Kojosho Organization. In December, In Budapest at KSI dojo 3 person (Zoltán Hernádi, Péter Mészáros, Ferenc Szoboszlai) passsed his  Sho Dan exam in front of Dr. Harnos.

1998

the Hungarian Team participated with a 100 at the IGOR World Cup in
Italy, Fiugiban.

1999

Dr Harnos gave László Lévai the supervision right till San Dan level. At the summer camp of Salgóbánya 2 nomienees passed their Sho Dan exam (Tamás Erdei, Gábor Lassányi) and  8 passed their Ni Dan exam (Balázs Kabina, Balázs Bakos, Mihály Garamvölgyi, Attila Takács, Norbert Márhoffer, Gábor Vadóc, Valér Papp, Zoltán Hernádi) in front of Lévai Renshi.  10 member Hungarian Team participated at an Open International Martial Art Cup in
France.



2000


A 25 member Hungarian team participated at the IGOR cup in this year at the States. László Lévai, Renshi received the Diamond Life Achievement Awards. At first time at this year a Foreign team (Australian) participates at the 5th Hanshi Cup with the Leading of Marika Harnos. With the referring of Dr. Harnos Zoltán Durkó and István Nagy H. received Renshi level from Kojosho. At the Summer Training Camp of Salgóbánya Balázs Lévai, István Nagy H. passed their, Róbert Sayka, Márton Márhoffer, Sho Dan level exam, Péter Mészáros, Ferenc Szoboszlai, passed their Ni Dan level and Ferenc Palotás passed his San Dan level exam in front of László Lévai.

2001. Október
5 member Zen Bu Kan Kempo team (Zoltán Hernádi, Péter Mészáros, Gábor Vadóc, Csongor Józsa, Botond Józsa) participates on  American Kenpo Karate System Competition European Championship organized for 23 countries.

2001
Norber Mánhoffer took the uncovered position of main judge. At the frist time, when a competitor participate in an international Full-contact competition in Ulm, Germany. 5 people passed their Sho Dan exam (Attila Mácsik, Ferenc Gáncs, Roland Nagy, Balázs Benák, Gábor Vincze). The board members elected Valér Papp, and Balázs Kabina to vice president of the Organization. From this time Zolán Hernádi became the head of Exam committee.

2002
The vice president of the Organization will be István H. Nagy, replacing Balázs Kabina, than after his resignation Attila Takács took over the position. At the Seitedo Karate Organization open full-contact Championship in Bielsko Biala, Poland the Hungarian team participated with Success. At first time from the Sport Organization a trainee, József Tar, participated and won his match at the King of the Cage fight in London, England. On December 8 at the Sport hall of Budapest at the VIIth Hanshi Cup participants came from 5 countries, Dr. Harnos gave to Laszlo Lévai the Samurai level of Kyoshi, and to Attila Takács the Samurai rank of Renshi. 5 people passed their Sho Dan exam on December 15th (Balázs Bódi, Adrián Nagy H., Antal Sipos, József Ferenczik, Péter Bajaczán), 2 pass their exam to Ni Dan grade (Gyula Kolozsvári, István Nagy H) and  6 passed their (Kabina Balázs, Hernádi Zoltán, Márhoffer Norbert, Takács Attila, Metzger Antal, Papp Valér).
In this year our previous president Ferenc Juhasz died in a Motorcycle accident.

2003
In this year the Hungarian Kempo team was very successful at the Polish (Bielsko Biala) and German (Ulm) competitions. The Qualified trainees of the Organization are periodically participate on professional International full-contact, street-fighter, MMA, and Cagefight competitions. On the Summer Training Camp Balázs Kárászi, József Tar, László Tar, Tibor Csillag pass their Sho Dan level exam; Ferenc Gáncs, Róbert Szayka pass their Ni Dan exam; and Balázs Bakos passed his San Dan exam.

2004
László Lévai, Kyoshi resigned form his President position at the Organization and offer the leading to the next generation. At the Board meeting of the Sport Organization on 25th april the participants accept a new foundation documents, which helps the continuity and the development of the Organization. The Meeting elect Laszlo Levai to honorary president and elect Valér Papp to President, Balázs Bakos, Attila Takács to vice president and Ference Palotás, István Nagy H. to members to the board. The Organization had 30 clubs and more than 700 registered trainee. With the help of Norbert Márhoffer, Balázs Bakos, Valér Papp a new judge rulebook created. Márhoffer resigned from his Main Judge position. In This year at first time a longer shoot was made by a commercial TV on the ZBK Kempo Hungarian Championship and prepared a highlight on that. In the Summer Camp of Velence Gergely Kerecsényi passed his sho dan exam, Péter Mészáros passed on San Dan exam, Ferenc Palotás passed on Yon Dan exam and Zoltán Durkó passed on Go Dan exam.
2005
In 2005 the Zen Bu Kan Kempo Organization celebrated its 10. anniversary ont he X. Hanshi Cup.
Also in 2005 we could organize the Adult Hungarian Championship in a promoted Location at the NSK-BOK Sport hall of Budapest, several the commercial TV and newspaper highlighted the event.
April 10, 2005. some of our trainee participated in a Free fighting Gala at Dölzig, Germany (Gáncs Ferenc, Nagy Roland, Kordás István és Szűcs Zsolt) against the Gemans. The team was led by renshi Attila Takács, and back very successful
On 28th May, Some of our Members participated at the Totalfight International Cage fight MMA Championship. (Szabolcs Felföldi, Roland Nagy)
At the beginning of July Budapest Local Government organized a Sport Island, where a very successful presentation was performed with the leading of Valér Papp and Attila Mácsik.
In September some member participated (Szabolcs Felföldi, Gyula Tarjáni) at the Street fighters Gala at Gyor, In November at Kecskemét (Roland Nagy), and at the K-Pro MMA Cage fight Championship at Miskolc (Zsolt Szűcs).
In this year the Hanshi came back to Hungary to participate the jubilee 10th Hanshi cup, and the Australian-Hungarian mutual sho dan level exam. At this event Valér Papp and Attila Takács passed their Yon Dan exam, Balázs Kárászi, Tibor Csillag and Attila Mácsik passed their Ni dan exam, Gergely Tóth, Máté Nagy, Dávid Denczinger, (who was 14 at that time) and one woman Lilian Háry passed their sho Dan exam (she was the first who reach the master level after 10 years.)
